Footwear Collection Project
I always really knew what my passion was. I just needed that small push to truly visualize it and freely express myself...
For the Footwear Collection Project, we were asked to create a complete footwear collection from scratch. With an interest in sneakers, I focused my collection on that style of footwear. Creating the collection included things such as creating a mood board, creating a large variety of sketches (original, statement piece, basics, and upper variations), and lastly presenting the work.
Process
Mood Board
The mood board was the building ground of the collection. My main source of inspiration for the collection was "dreams". I was interested in the different ways that we may perceive dreams, either as something child-like, a source of inspiration, or an escape from reality. I was interested in this concept also because this was the time when I wanted to start laying out the groundwork for the brand I want to create in the future "Ama Rever". I want the brand to tell my mental health journey throughout the creation of this brand. I want to tell my story also as a way to let others know they're not alone. For that reason "dreams" was the concept I had in mind, as every good idea starts as a dream.
Croquis
Before I started to create better-quality sketches, I started by making a series of croquis. This was to get my ideas out there quickly and effortlessly. This is a set of 12 croquis from which I chose eight of them to be part of the "original" set of sketches.
All the sketches were hand drawn and later retraced using markers, each with different weights. The sketches shown above were the 8 parts of the "original" set. Below, the link opens up to a PDF showing all the sketches made for the collection.
